[the story so far]

Erin Torgerson

I majored in English and minored in Studio Art at Kenyon College (2015). While in school, I interned for HopeLab, a non-profit dedicated to designing technology that facilitates youth health as their marketing/design intern. I was also selected as a student associate at The Kenyon Review, a venerated literary magazine with a long-standing reputation for curating excellent contemporary fiction.

After my B.A. from Kenyon, I returned to my childhood home — Anchorage, Alaska. Once there, I joined the Marketing team at Camp Fire Alaska. My role at Camp Fire started as a creative position; I was responsible for drafting the bulk of Camp Fire’s graphic content, social media, copywriting, and client communications. With time, my confidence grew and my creative abilities further refined themselves. After a year at Camp Fire, I was promoted to Marketing Specialist. Acting as Specialist granted me leadership experience; I was entrusted with developing and executing Camp Fire’s marketing content strategy, and with directly overseeing the department extern’s projects.

Since 2012, I have accepted graphic design and illustration commissions on a freelance basis. When a personal associate campaigned for a congressional seat, I volunteered my graphic design services. By doing so, I formed strong professional ties that later developed into trusted partnerships. My reputation established, I became a preferred contractor for the Alaska Democratic Party and associates — a partnership that continues today!

It is my belief that a creative assignment presents two opportunities:

  1. The satisfaction of creating high-quality, effective products that delight consumers

  2. The chance to help teams exert mastery over their brand’s stories

Rather than the blind pursuit of a purposeless masterpiece, my goal is to compliment the perspectives and merits of a larger team by working responsively to deliver a product that is authentic to the team’s brand, and their larger mission. The challenges that arise from collaborative creation are, to my mind, puzzle pieces I instinctively relish assembling.
